Cinnamon is a warming, comforting and stimulating oil. To be used topically with caution in a very small amount of a massage blend as it is a known skin irritant. However, when used correctly it is one of the most ideal oils for muscle aches, pains and spasms, for headaches and also makes an excellent inhalation for bronchial conditions, coughs, colds and flu’s.
With its antiseptic and anti fungal qualities it is also a fantastic antiseptic wash and digestive aid to help ward off parasites and intestinal complaints including colitis, diarrhoea and dyspepsia.
It helps to reduce feelings of lethargy, alleviates fear and helps to arouse the senses. It is beautiful to blend with oils like Orange and Cypress and makes an excellent Christmas and winter oil.
CAUTION: Cinnamon bark oil has been reported to be a severe dermal irritant and sensitiser. When used in a blend the dilution should not be more than a 0.1% dilution. If it is used on the skin often a redness or skin irritation will occur. This will subside and cool compresses can help.
